About Me

I am a licensed psychologist educated from the professional psychology program at NTNU. I have experience from acute psychiatry, outpatient treatment in the specialist health service, private clinics, and have been running my own private practice in Sandvika, Bærum since 2018.

Since starting my practice, I have had a clear focus on developing my skills as a therapist. My goal is for as many of the people I help as possible to become completely free from their psychological difficulties — not just learn to live with them. I am a warm, authentic, and caring therapist, and I can also be direct when needed. Together, we work towards your goals and wishes for therapy.

My Approach to Therapy

My therapeutic approach is primarily based on psychodynamic methods, with particular inspiration from ISTDP (Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy). Psychodynamic therapy is about understanding how unconscious feelings, inner conflicts, and past experiences affect our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors today, leading to symptoms. It focuses especially on how we relate to others and ourselves, our attachment patterns from childhood, and how we experience and regulate stress and emotions.

Through therapy, we can:

  • Explore and work through the underlying causes of your difficulties

  • Reduce or eliminate distressing symptoms

  • Strengthen your self-esteem and quality of life

  • Promote personal growth and lasting change

I adapt the therapy to your needs, desires, and goals, whether you seek help for specific problems or need support in dealing with life's challenges.

What Problems Can I Help With?

All problems are welcome here — big or small. I have experience with:

  • Anxiety and restlessness

  • Depression and low mood

  • Low self-esteem

  • Panic attacks

  • Stress and burnout

  • Sleep problems

  • Life crises and grief

  • Relationship difficulties and breakups

  • Anger issues

  • Eating disorders

  • Somatic complaints without medical explanation (e.g., headaches, tension, irritable bowel)

  • Psychological reactions after trauma or painful experiences

  • Addictions

You don't need to prepare before coming to therapy — just show up as you are, and we'll quickly find out whether this is right for you.

How Long Does Therapy Take?

The time needed to achieve your goals in therapy depends on the nature of your difficulties and the changes you are seeking. A short therapy course with a psychologist is typically around 10–20 sessions, which is common for more defined problems. More complex or long-standing issues may require more time. In my experience, most clients in private practice benefit from 5 to 50 sessions. We will continuously assess your progress and adjust the therapy as needed.

How Often Should We Meet?

Therapy is most effective when it is prioritized. Weekly sessions often yield the best results, according to both research and experience. However, I understand that both financial and practical considerations play a role. Many start with weekly sessions and then adjust the frequency as needed. Together, we'll find a rhythm that suits you and your goals.

Some prefer longer sessions (60–90 minutes) to delve deeper, while others benefit more from shorter, more frequent meetings.
